I have worked in non-profit communications for most of my career and have areas of expertise that include higher education, theater, music, dance and religion.
I’m a published and produced playwright, published photographer, journalist and also have a ton of experience writing press releases, advertising & brochure copy. In addition, I have created many e-mail marketing blasts and have experience writing grant proposals. I also have taught for a living.
As a playwright, I have written plays that have been produced in North Carolina, Maryland, Delaware, the District of Columbia, New York City, New Hampshire, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
One of my musicals (co-author/book & lyrics), Oedipus! A New Musical Comedy, received the Jim Henson Award for Projects Related to Puppetry, received an artistic achievement citation from the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival and is published by Samuel French. I also wrote the dialogue to an opera based on the O.J. Simpson trial with composer Anthony Newman
As a freelance writer and critic, I have written for The New Jersey Star Ledger, New York Resident, the Spectator magazine (Raleigh, North Carolina), The New York Blade, The Washington Blade and more.
I have written profiles or reviewed top entertainers that include Howie Mandell, Rita Rudner, Judy Tenuta, Rosie O’Donnell, Brett Butler, Paul Reiser, Alison Arngrim (“Nellie Oleson” on Little House on the Prairie), Carrot Top, Bea Arthur, George Carlin, Paula Poundstone, Ellen Degeneres, Joan Rivers and more.
As a photographer, some of my images are featured in a permanent exhibit, “The Smile Experience” at the Smithsonian affiliated museum, The National Museum of Dentistry, in Baltimore.
I have photographed celebrities on the red carpet at Broadway openings and the following media outlets have published or featured my images: The New York Times, The Daily News, Star Magazine, TMZ, TimeOut/NY, New York Post, N.J. Star Ledger, Complete Woman, Newsday, Playbill.com, TheaterMania.com, ABC’s The View, more.
As a publicist, I have placed print stories in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Reader’s Digest, Newsweek Japan, American Theater, the Daily News and others. He has placed t.v. segments on The Today Show, The Early Show, Live with Regis, GoodDay L.A. and more.
As a teacher, I have taught “Marketing the Arts” at LaGuardia Community College/Cuny, acting for the Acting Workshop of Queens, playwriting for the University of Maryland Honor Program, drama for children at St. Alban’s Summer Program in the District of Columbia, improvisational comedy workshops and classes at various locations and photography at Lousiburg College in Louisburg, North Carolina.
